Privacy notice

1. Who is responsible for this site

FPSPanel is an independent editorial project published at fpspanel.com. It reviews free-to-install games about the gold rush and the American frontier that are distributed through Google Play. The editorial desk decides what is published here and is the organisation accountable for the personal information described below.

Written questions about this notice, about a correction, or about a request concerning your personal information can be sent to the editorial desk at editorial@fpspanel.com. We answer in English and reply within thirty days.

2. What we collect

We keep the collection as narrow as the site allows. Depending on how you use fpspanel.com, the following categories may be processed:

• Technical connection data written by the hosting layer: IP address, browser user agent, requested page, referring page, date and time of the request.
• Cookie identifiers and similar local storage keys, including the key that remembers your answer to the cookie notice.
• Aggregated audience statistics: pages viewed, approximate region, device class, session duration.
• Advertising identifiers set by advertising partners when advertising cookies are allowed.
• Subscription form data: the name you type (optional) and your e-mail address (required), together with the fact and time of your agreement.
• Web push data: the push subscription identifier issued by your browser, the browser and platform family, and the tags attached to your subscription record.

We do not ask for a postal address, a telephone number, a date of birth or payment details, and the site contains no payment form of any kind.

3. Why we process it and on what basis

Under Canadian federal privacy law — the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) — personal information may be collected only for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate, and normally with the knowledge and consent of the individual. Our purposes are:

• Delivering the pages you request and keeping the site available and secure (necessary to operate the service).
• Understanding which articles are read, so the editorial queue reflects real interest (statistical purposes, analytics cookies only with your agreement).
• Displaying advertising placements that keep reading free (only with your agreement to advertising cookies).
• Sending the weekly editorial note and, if you allow it in the browser, push messages about new entries (express consent given through the subscription form and the browser prompt).

Consent given for the newsletter or for notifications can be taken back at any time, and that does not affect anything processed before that moment.

4. Web push and the subscription form

Push messages and e-mail records for this site are handled by OneSignal, Inc., which acts as our service provider (processor) and stores the subscription data on our behalf. When you submit the form and accept the browser prompt, the following is passed to that provider: your e-mail address, the optional name you typed, the push identifier created by your browser, and tags describing which site the subscription belongs to and that it came from the site form.

You can stop the messages in three independent ways: use the unsubscribe link in any e-mail, revoke the notification permission for fpspanel.com in your browser settings, or write to the editorial desk at editorial@fpspanel.com and ask for the record to be deleted. Requests are carried out promptly, and no further messages follow.

5. How long information is kept

• Server log data: up to twelve months, then deleted or aggregated.
• Audience statistics: up to twenty-six months in aggregated form.
• Newsletter and push records: until you revoke consent or ask for deletion, and up to ninety days afterwards in backup copies.
• The cookie-choice key stored in your browser: until you clear your browser storage.

6. Who else may receive it

We do not sell personal information and we do not trade contact lists. Information is disclosed only to the service providers that make the site work, and only to the extent each of them needs:

• The hosting and content-delivery provider that serves these pages.
• The audience statistics provider, where analytics cookies are allowed.
• Advertising partners whose placements appear on the site, where advertising cookies are allowed.
• OneSignal, Inc. as the push and e-mail delivery provider described in section 4.

Some of these providers operate servers outside Canada, which means information may be stored in or accessed from another country and may be subject to the laws of that country. We rely on contractual terms with each provider that require a comparable level of protection.

Links to Google Play open a service operated by Google LLC. Once you follow such a link, that service processes your data under its own terms; we are not affiliated with Google.

7. Cookies

Categories, purposes and lifetimes are listed in the separate cookie notice, together with the ways to refuse or remove them. Necessary cookies are set so the site can function; analytics and advertising cookies follow the choice you make in the notice at the bottom of the page.

8. Your rights and how to complain

Under PIPEDA you may ask us to confirm whether we hold personal information about you, to give you access to it, to correct it if it is inaccurate or incomplete, and to revoke consent for uses that are not required by law. Write to the editorial desk at editorial@fpspanel.com; we may ask a question or two to confirm that the request comes from you.

If our answer does not satisfy you, you may complain to the federal supervisory authority: the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC), which oversees compliance with PIPEDA. Provincial authorities may also be competent depending on where you live.

9. Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection. Access to subscription records is limited to the editorial desk, protection is applied at the provider level, and we review the list of providers whenever the setup changes. No online service can promise absolute security, so we keep the amount of stored information deliberately small.

10. Changes to this notice

If the setup of the site changes — a new provider, a new category of data, a different retention period — this page is updated and the date at the top is moved forward. The version published here is the one in force. This notice takes effect on 13 August 2026.
